“Folio-x” enhances the teaching and learning experience by delivering custom course materials with greater value, flexibility and freedom

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 25, 2010 – ANN ARBOR, MICH. – XanEdu, the leading faculty-preferred provider of custom course materials and textbooks, announces Folio-x, a digital solution that contains of a collection of innovative digital product enhancements.  XanEdu Folio-x enables students and educators more convenience and greater usefulness when producing and using XanEdu custom course materials. XanEdu is introducing the new solution this week to the Executive MBA (EMBA) market at the EMBA Council 2010 Annual Conference in Vancouver, BC Canada October 24-27, 2010.

“Folio-x takes the publishing and distribution of custom course materials to a new service level by combining the best standard features from XanEdu’s existing digital portfolio of products with new features such as the XanEdu iPad app, device-neutral delivery, and advanced highlighting and note taking into a single solution,” said Tyler Steben, Vice President, Custom Publishing at XanEdu Publishing, Inc. “XanEdu Folio-x includes more than just the XanEdu iPad app that we recently announced.  Our solution gives EMBA students new freedom to use and manage their digital course materials in the same way that they interact with traditional print versions.  XanEdu enhanced PDF files enable students to organize materials, highlight or take notes, and share them with classmates.  They can be read and accessed on any device that accepts PDF files or has Adobe Acrobat Reader. No plug-ins required, students own the content forever, and material may be transferred to any handheld device.”

XanEdu plans to upgrade existing EMBA customers to the Folio-x platform beginning in January 2011.  Folio-x is the first full-service solution to be announced as part of XanEdu’s strategic technology plan that was rolled out in July 2010.

“We have two strong beliefs driving our strategic technology plan: students should be able to access course materials anytime and anywhere on whatever device they prefer; and educators should have convenient access to dynamic course materials that supplement traditional textbook readings and create truly engaging learning experiences,” said Dan Arbour, CEO, XanEdu Publishing, Inc.  “Folio-x does both by combining the latest digital publishing content such as videos, simulations and other electronic files with the flexibility and convenience of accessing those materials via handheld devices, the web, or through learning management systems like Blackboard.”

The XanEdu Folio-x device-neutral platform and feature set are being driven by extensive class testing currently underway at several nationwide MBA programs. In addition to unique digital content, a variety of delivery options, and collaboration features, MBA students will benefit from the ability to use and download course materials individually or as a collection.

“Our download capabilities are revolutionary,” says Steben.  “We’re giving students options that they’ve never had before now. As the delivery of custom course materials trends more and more towards a completely digital model every day, XanEdu is right there in the trenches with students and listening to every word they say in order to build the best and most comprehensive solution on the market.”
