About the Book

Morpheme Magic will open up a world of anticipation and delight for teachers and their students as they discover the magic of morphemes together. Grades 4-12.

Most teachers have a good sense of what morphology is and what morphemes are, but how to teach morphological awareness? Research regularly highlights a strong relationship between the awareness of morphemes and spelling, writing, comprehension, vocabulary knowledge, and reading proficiency. With Morpheme Magic, creating awareness of morphemes is no longer a challenge. These carefully designed lessons apply elements of research on how the reading brain develops a mapping of the visual meaningful parts of words to meaning. The attractive wall cards are full of information with key words and pictures to help students recall the morphemes and make connections to word families that will grow their vocabularies for each morpheme.
