About the author

Michael L. Free is currently an Associate Professor of Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Utah. He teaches hydrometallurgy, corrosion, electrometallurgy, and introductory-level courses in addition to performing research in these areas.

He has a B.S. degree in metallurgical engineering, an M.S. degree in chemical engineering, and a Ph.D. degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Utah. He has worked on projects for more than 20 different organizations in the areas of corrosion, particle separation technology, electrometallurgy, and hydrometallurgy. He has authored or coauthored more than 30 publications.
