This
is an introductory production/operations course designed to assist
students with learning complicated subjects easily. The book is
easy to read. The chapters are small and to the point. The book
also has multiple choice and true and false questions. There are
also end of chapter questions, and a complete set of problems.
Each chapter also contains a set of relevant articles that support
the content of each chapter with interesting readings. The book
focuses on product design and quality in both product and service
producing organizations.
Dr. Shad Dowlatshahi is a Professor of Operations Management.
He has developed and taught a variety of operations management
and quality courses. He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering
from The University of Iowa. He holds a MBA degree as well as
an MS degree in Industrial Engineering from Emporia State University
and the University of Missouri - Columbia, respectively. He has
an undergraduate degree in Industrial Management. Dr. Dowlatshahi's
career spans several years of educational administration, business,
and industrial experience from which he has gained international
business and effective managerial experience. Shad Dowlatshahi
has been active in civic and professional organizations throughout
his life. Dr. Dowlatshahi was the sole recipient of the Chancellor's
Outstanding Teaching Award given by the University of Texas System.
He has also received several other prestigious teaching awards
throughout his teaching career.
